When my Sister Stole my Fiancé at the Funeral, I Never Expected My Billionaire Husband to Defend Me

Unearthing Secrets

After the funeral, I returned home with Julian, though my mind was elsewhere. I stared out the window, rain streaking down like tears. Everything felt heavy, oppressive.

The spacious home we shared was the very picture of comfort, but it felt wrong. I felt wrong.

“You didn’t need to intervene like that,” I said finally, breaking the silence.

“I did,” he insisted, his voice steady. “She crossed a line.”

“But she’s my sister.”

“Doesn’t make her comments any less cruel.”

I turned to him then, my heart racing. “What were you thinking back there? Did you really mean it?”

He paused. “I meant it, Amelia. Anyone who disrespects you will answer to me.”

His eyes locked onto mine—his expression so intense it sent chills down my spine.

“Thank you,” I whispered, but there was still a nagging fear that clung to me.

Two days passed, each filled with a silence that spoke volumes. The unease simmered beneath the surface.

Then, late one evening, as I sat at my desk in the study, I received a text from an unknown number.

It read, “I know what they did to you. Meet me at the old park at noon tomorrow.”

My heart raced. Who could this be? I felt a thrill of danger mixed with curiosity.

I furrowed my brow, glancing at Julian, sitting in the living room, oblivious to the storm brewing inside me. Was it worth it to go? But the thought of secrets, of hidden truths, burned in my mind.

Should I tell Julian? But what if it had something to do with him?

The next day, I stood in front of the mirror, a war raging inside me about whether I should go. What evidence could this person have? What truth lay hidden beneath the surface of the lies?

A Meeting in the Shadows

Walking through the park, I felt exposed under the glare of the midday sun. The vibrant colors of spring did little to soothe my trepidation.

The trees swayed gently, whispering secrets I longed to know. I arrived at the designated meeting spot, a bench that overlooked the pond, the water shimmering where light met its surface.

Fidgeting with my phone, I scanned my surroundings, half-hoping to see a familiar face. Instead, I saw a stranger approaching—a man in a gray coat, his expression unreadable.

“Are you Amelia?” he asked, and I nodded, feeling a twinge of dread.

“I have information about your sister and Julian.”

My heart dropped. “What do you know?”

The man glanced around. “We can’t talk here. Follow me.”

I hesitated but then followed him deeper into the park, past blooming azaleas and weeping willows. The air grew thick with tension.

Finally, he stopped in a secluded area, far from prying eyes.

“I was at the funeral,” he confessed, eyes narrowing. “I’ve been watching them.”

“Who?”

“You have to understand—they’re more involved than you think. I found something—messages between them.”

My breath caught in my throat. “What are you talking about?”

“Cassandra and Julian. It’s more than just an affair. It’s a setup.”

“A setup?”

“They’re working together. I can’t tell you everything now, but trust me, they’re planning something.”

My mind reeled. I wanted to believe him, but could I?
