Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp honey
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
How to Make It
- Heat the water in a saucepan or kettle until it is warm but not boiling—about 120‑130°F (49‑54°C). You will see gentle steam rising, and the water should feel comfortably warm to the touch.
- Pour the warm water into a mug. Add the apple cider vinegar and stir with a spoon until the liquid looks clear and the vinegar is fully incorporated.
- Add the honey. Stir until the honey completely dissolves; the mixture should become slightly glossy and lose any grainy texture.
- Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the mug, being careful to avoid seeds. The color will shift to a light amber, and you’ll notice a bright, citrusy aroma rising.
- If you like a gentle heat boost, stir in a pinch of cayenne pepper. The mixture will faintly steam again, and you’ll smell a subtle spice.
- Allow the drink to sit for a minute so the flavors meld, then sip slowly in the morning on an empty stomach. You should feel the warmth coating the back of your throat, indicating the drink is ready.
