Inside The Sapphire Room
My heart raced as I pushed through the heavy door of The Sapphire Room, its luxurious interior glimmering under the low lights. The air was thick with expensive perfumes and laughter, but all I could focus on was Michael. I had to find him.
The doorman raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed. “You’re not on the list, ma’am.”
“Please, just let me in! He’s my—” I started, but he cut me off with a stern shake of his head.
“I can’t do that. Club policy.”
Panic clawed at my throat. I couldn’t let him spend my money. “I’ll do anything. I just need to talk to him. I’m his—”
“His what?” The doorman’s voice was firm, uninterested.
“Ex-wife, and he’s trying to ruin me!”
I felt the weight of my words hang in the air. After what seemed like an eternity of pleading, the doorman sighed, clearly conflicted. “Fine. Just keep it quiet.” He stepped aside, and I rushed through, my pulse pounding in my ears.
As I navigated through the crowd, my eyes landed on Michael, lounging with Vanessa in a plush corner suite. He was laughing, seemingly at ease, while a waiter placed bottle after bottle of champagne on the table. My stomach churned.
He wasn’t just spending; he was flaunting it. I gritted my teeth, the crushing betrayal almost overwhelming. This was my hard-earned money, every dollar painstakingly built over years.
A Confrontation Gone Wrong
“Michael!” I called out, my voice steady despite the chaos inside me. The laughter fell silent, and all eyes turned to me.
He looked up, feigning surprise. “Mari? What a pleasant surprise.” His grin dripped with mockery.
I stormed toward him, fury bubbling. “Stop spending my money right now!”
He leaned back, arms crossed behind his head. “And what will you do about it? Call the cops? You’re the one who let me go.”
“This isn’t a game, Michael!” I spat. “You think this is funny?”
Vanessa rolled her eyes, her expression smug. “You brought this on yourself, you know? Maybe if you’d been a better wife…”
My throat tightened. “Don’t you dare speak to me—”
Suddenly, a chilling laugh escaped from Michael. “You deserve this humiliation. You couldn’t keep me, and now look at you.”
As my fingers trembled, reaching for my phone, a sense of dread swept over me. “I’ll report this. I can—”
Before I could finish my threat, Vanessa’s hand slipped into her purse, and she brandished a gun, pointing it directly at me.
My breath caught in my throat. This wasn’t just a confrontation; it was a full-blown nightmare.
