Brush Gently with Soft Bristles
A soft-bristled toothbrush is essential for this treatment. Hard bristles can be too abrasive, especially when combined with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Wet your toothbrush and apply the baking soda paste, followed by the hydrogen peroxide solution. Brush your teeth in a gentle, circular motion, paying special attention to the front and back surfaces of your teeth. The goal is to remove surface stains without damaging your enamel or gum tissue. Brushing too hard is a common mistake that can lead to enamel erosion and gum recession. Take your time and be thorough, but gentle. Brushing for about 30 seconds with each solution should be sufficient to achieve the desired results.
Rinse with Salt Water
After brushing, rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water to remove any residue from the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Follow this with a salt water rinse to neutralize any remaining hydrogen peroxide and soothe your gums. Mix a quarter teaspoon of salt with a cup of warm water and swish it around your mouth for about 30 seconds. The salt water helps to reduce inflammation and kill any lingering bacteria. Rinsing with salt water is an important step that many people overlook. It not only helps to clean your mouth but also leaves your teeth feeling fresh and clean. Be sure to spit out the salt water after rinsing, as swallowing it can be unpleasant and may cause digestive issues.
